The First Creator's Demo - Hatsune Miku + Google Chorome

9th Mar 2012, at Miku's day, also the last day of Miku no Hi Kansyasai concert (Thanksgiving concert) at Tokyo Dome, the kick start of the new project called "Miku Creator's Project on Google+" was announced on Miku's google+ page as the last gift for this event.

With this second project of google for Miku, the first one is now almost a legendary commercial of google chorome aired during new year's holiday, world viewers can watch all the creating process of Miku's songs and flims. Creators who join this project are called VocaloP (abbreviation of Vocaloid Producer), and they will be showcasing their creating style and actual creating scene directly from the site.

Names of creators are not dropped yet, we only can watch first demo-version on Youtube.

If you can correctly answer the name of the creator of this demo before it'll be revealed on 17th Mar, you can get some kinds of gifts, so you Miku fans must give it a try!!

Other works from this project will be released on Miku's google+ page.

Hatsune Miku Google Chrome Theme "Tell Your World" Full Version finally released!!

A full length Music Video of The famous tune from Google Chrome commercial, which has on aired nationwide in Japan, has finally, finally been released just one day before the release of Livetune's new album "Tell Your World EP".

This video is a collaborative work of several top creators. See the colorful tone, sharp move, dreamy effect, we can't expect more from this video. The good news is the first limited edition of "Tell Your World EP" is packed with DVD of music videos in the album.

Began from the New Year Holiday's Google Commercial to NHK's special program to various TV programs, Miku suddenly starts growing beyond the small online world of Youtube and Otaku community to mainstream. Maybe or most probably we can see her the Japanese version of Grammy award at this year end?? But before that, what about London Olympic??? YAY.

M.A.G. - Miko Action Game for Smartphones

"巫女 Miko" is a Japanese word describe a woman who can communucate with the spirit world of Gods, but in modern days, this word almost always means a woman who work at Shinto shirine, for example those girls who wear stunningly clean and beautiful traditional clothes, sit at the counter of shirine's office as a receptionist, sometimes help visiters buy goods. Toaru Majutsu no Index Alarm App for iPhone

Cute Amine Girls games, or Moege are all about (virtual) interaction with Anime girls. Whether it's a high school drama style sweet story or SF style or an ancient saga in which usually players embark on a mission to defeat an evil empire like Final Fantasy in it's early days, what we (or I..) expect is how well the game satisfy or provoke something sexual in us with whatever stories...

But, of course not all Anime fans have sexually quirks. Just like putting intricate figure dolls on your desk shelf, you just want having fun talking to, cooking with the girls, or maybe you want them to wake you up in a dull morning...

This is again an alarm-clock app of a character from a famous anime called 'Toaru Majutsu no Index (A Forbidden Tome of A Certain Magic or A Certain Magical Index)'.

As you don't wake up and keep the girl from having breakfast (because she has to wake you up, you know she is so loyal), she is getting hungry and angry. For some reason she describe how she is hungry in numbers, like "I'm 22.5 % hungry!!". This number indicates how long you took to wake up after the alarm. Somehow her reaction may tempt you to try to leave her until she gets 100% hungry...

This app is priced at 600yen(apprx $7.5), which is a bit expensive or a right price (it also has a voice library and stock wallpapers)? How do you think?

Usually when spin-offs of gamesofts for desktop gaming consoles are released for gaming portable devices, it may end up somewhat simplified or downgraded. But sometimes things are the opposite. Sometimes portable games would get more unique and diffuse more into your life.

This is an iOS version of "Dream Club", a famous game for Xbox360. And this might go deeper in your life than Xbox360 version. Simply because you always carry around iPhone, means you're always with Moe girl  who are always sincerely looking forward you to launching the app, too.

This was originally released as a free app, but with the new update, now we can get the full version for $6.99.

When you unlock the full feature, you can change the girl's cloths, use an alarm function, gift her presents, have more voices and more opportunities to TOUCH her (you can shake her boob by touching..).

This basically is an alarm (or clock) app. When you touch the clock in the top-left, the girl's voice will read the present time. It's fine.

Alarm just works fine, too. When the set time has come, the special voice will announce you a time.

You also can present her gifts, though it cost actual money D:
When you treat her alcohol, she got drunk lol. Maybe you shouldn't think too much. Just enjoy her cute expression ;)

Why don't you buy her cloths if you want to make her like you, or just want to see her in your favorite costumes.
You can also take a photo with her, or select a photo from Cameraroll and add her image over it. You can drag the girl's image with two finger so that nicely fit her into the photo.

The girl in this app is a main character of Xbox version. This is a game which you can virtually experiences the Japanese style cabaret club, top-notch, very expensive club. So you can see so many gorgeous Moe girls are working for this club.

When you haven't use this app for a while, she would call you that she miss you... It's maybe Otaku Dream Come True for some people, but for me it's a bit scary, what if you uninstall this app? I just only could imagine a Ring like horrific scene :(

Let's play Casino with Moe girls

Hello two dimension!! Oh you don't understand what I mean by two dimension? Basically it means cute girls in Anime or Game, which of course have two dimension body.
Anyway, whether you're a serious Otaku or just want to take a peek at Japanese modern culture or an early adopter who just want to try everything new in the market, this is my best recommendation of anime girls game which has a little eroge (Anime like porno game) flavor with high-quality graphic.

In this game you play poker, blackjack and Indian poker with Moe characters, little cute girls. Not surprisingly the company's already released similar games as a series, and this is a second installment of this Anime Casino Dealers series.
So what the difference from the previous one?
Think about it. When you go to a strip club, though I'm quite unsure you've ever been, perhaps the most enjoyable moment there is when strippers are teasing you by taking off their cloths so too slowly, and you're watching it sipping a beer. Or... imagine there's a girl in revealing cloth in front of you, and you could make her take her cloth off, step by step, by beating her in poker..
This game or many other eroge are capturing those situations into the game screen. What matters is not you can enjoy poker itself but you can enjoy the process of girls getting naked.
The answer of the question is... no, there's no difference, except, tough this is a big exception, that girls are different.

What is 'Moe' and 'Otaku'?

Have you ever heard the word moe? Or the word otaku? If you don't know both of these words, maybe you should learn a little bit from this article.
萌え (Moe: literally, "bursting into bud") is a relatively new word. The easiest explanation of moe is that the obsession with beautiful little girls, bishojo. Moe had been a kind of jargon used by exclusively Oataku (お宅: literally, "your home"). Every Otaku person knows Moe. For them it's just so basic. But there's a huge gap between people who know the word and who don't. And those who once visited Japan might know, It clearly corresponds with another gap between those who know that Akihabara (until recently this area was only portrayed in media for household-appliance stores. ) is now the territory of Otaku and those who don't.
Over time, the focus of otaku taste shifted from science fiction to anime to eroge (erotic games), as young boys who once embraced the bright future promised by science saw this future gradually eroded by the increasingly grim reality around them. I think they needed an alternative.

There's common phrase, Two dimension, to describe likeness toward eroge or bisyojo Anime. Uhmm I can imagine what you are probably enjoying right now, then you can say "I LOVE TWO DIMENSION!! TWO DIMENSION FTW!!" . That's it.

But for mainstream people, it is so weird that Otaku people are obsessed with little girls toy or eroge where you can enjoy virtual love affair with Anime style little girls. But Otaku people are enjoying the fact they are watched as oddball or socially challenged and becoming increasingly unacceptable.
But perhaps this is not very accurate. Actually from my personal experience, beside the fact that they have Otaku taste, many of them are peaceful and nice persons. I think that's because they are socializing so closely within their Otaku communities.
If you look for a Western equivalent, it would be Decadence, or the Baroque, though theirs is a tendency toward excessive decorativeness. I imagine such people think of themselves not in terms of "See what we've done. We're amazing," but more like, "See what we've done! How pathetic we are!"
This pathetic tendency is corresponding to the extremization of otaku culture.
Up until the 1980s, people who watched anime—any kind of anime, be it Hayao Miyazaki or Akira or whatever—were all considered otaku. Today, Japanese anime is so accomplished that one film even won an Academy Award. As a result, grown-ups can safely watch, say, Miyazaki's anime without being despised as otaku.

The upshot of this is, as soon as anime and games earned respectability in society, otaku created more repugnant or extreme genres, in Japanese I may say hetale or dame na genre, such as bishojo games and moe anime, and moved on to them.

Da Best Of Hatsune Miku

These days, most of Japanese startups are aiming at overseas market as the domestic market has never seemed to stop shrinking. 'Go Overseas or Die' is kind of a stale phrase in Japan. This tendency is seen particularly in web developing businesses (since there's no physical distance in the internet) that their products are solely provided in English.

Hatsune Miku is not exactly the same, but she is clearly one of Japan's marketing hope, so, you can see these CD's lyric are all written in English... nope almost everything is written only in Japanese :P Yet, the world loves her.

I'm not sure we can get these physical CD's produced by Dwango Entertainment co. and distributed by Sony Music Direct at our local stores in US. Anyway these "Hatsune Miku Best ~memories~" and "Hatsune Miku ~impacts~" are released in Feb 2009 celebrating 2 year anniversary of Hatsune Miku (technically it's an anniversary of Software not herself since she is forever 16 years old). And I wanna introduce some of my favorite from these albums really quick.

Personally I like Impacts version better, as it's title suggests, it's a compilation of songs which has strong subliminal impacts on listner's mind and pretty addictive. Speaking of addictive songs, you can never miss this song.



This mysterious song is never be used in concerts nor CDs but it's a song that used in Google Chrome's TV commercials in Japan!!! (which was heavily aired during New Year holidays 2012, Awesome country huh??) Here is the commercial!!


Some people insist Miku is virtual (Yes she is) and some say even she is fake.. But at 0:45 of this video you see what Miku is made of... what you discover is people and how so many people create Miku together.
At the beginning Miku was merely a digital instrument which has been given a Anime style body because of the difficulty of marketing. But those people, I should say Otaku, put tremendous energy and created high quality music animation which even the company who produced Miku never expected to happen. Without these Otaku, who moved their hands and made things happen (for the clarification, the term Otaku is not limited to Anime or Manga fans, it's more like an enthusiast, at least in Japanese), Miku would never be such a big movement.
Finally something you should keep in mind is, you can be a part of this movement, I can be a part of this movement, everyone can be a part of this movement!

Moe(萌え) character maker

This is how a Moe character appears on an evening edition's front page of major Japanese newspaper.

The article says “Now you can make a Moe character easily by using a software on PC. ... You may find Moe characters more and more often on cases or wrapping of products, or as mascots of local tourism, etc.”

A software company based in Tokyo developed the program “Comi Po” that you can make your own version of anime like character on your own PC with.

‘Cause it’s not only about hobby but this software will expand a possibility for small companies or small towns to make their commercial mascot at very cheap price (just 40 USD, as far as I know).

Souvenir shop selling sweets from Hokkaido

I’m pretty doubtful that this kind of package design is becoming a new standard, I think it just looks weird and seems just attracts people who are looking for weird gifts from Japan to make fun of.

But after two decades of economic stagnation, Pop culture have been becoming seen as one of few things that have a potential to grow globally from Japan, and I guess, the border between mainstream Manga/Anime and somewhat pornographic ones (be sure that I don’t mean real porno) are slowly but gradually disappearing.

But is this giving a bad name to Japan? Because I believe no sane person look them as a thing to be displayed in main section of normal souvenir shops, normal media, normal bookshops, or anything normal.
I think it’s just for fans, but in Japan and the world, fans of this kind of lolita anime thing are extremely enthusiastic and spend a lot of money, makes these characters effective marketing tools, even major newspaper put a cute picture of Moe girl on their front page. In the real world, it just as peculiar as the front page of newspaper where a Moe girl smiling above the grim news articles.

Real Japanese Girls are as cute as cute as virtual Anime Girls. Don't forget that :)
